Rita Jordan
After
a Psychology degree, Rita taught in mainstream & special schools, including
one for ASDs. She has an MSc Child Development and MA Linguistics. Her
doctorate was on pronouns in autism. Since 1993, she has developed and
run a range of programmes in autism studies at The University of Birmingham,
including a web-based one. She has written and researched on many aspects
of autism and has been involved in training events, consultations and
conferences all over the world. She has served on national and international
task forces and working parties to review evidence and offer advice
in relation to ASDs.

Mr Stephen Shore
Diagnosed with "Atypical Development with strong autistic tendencies"
Stephen was viewed as "too sick" to be treated on an outpatient basis
and recommended for institutionalization. Stephen is now completing
his doctoral degree in special education at Boston University with a
focus on helping people on the autism spectrum develop their capacities
to the fullest extent possible. In addition to working with children
and talking about life on the autism spectrum, Stephen presents and
consults internationally on adult issues pertinent to education, relationships,
employment, advocacy, and disclosure as discussed in his book "Beyond
the Wall: Personal Experiences with Autism and Asperger Syndrome", and
numerous other writings.

Richard Mills
From 1991, Richard was the
Director of Services for the National Autistic Society (NAS) and was
responsible for the full range of educational, vocational and care services
accross the UK, including early years, schools, colleges, vocational
projects and a range of housing, residential and day services for adults
. He was also involved setting up NAS's early intervention programme
EarlyBird, the NAS specialist employment programme, Prospects and in
1995, he opened the HAYES INDEPENDENT HOSPITAL, the first secure residential
treatment facility for adults with Asperger syndrome. He chairs the
NAS ethics committee.

Dr Daniel Fung
As Deputy Head of the Mental Health Education Department of IMH, Daniel
is also an active member of the Mind Your Mind Programme, a mental health
education programme of the Ministry of Health spearheaded by IMH. He
has a special interest in child abuse, emotional disorders and developmental
disorders (including learning disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder).

Lam Chee Meng
A practicing psychologist since 1985, Chee Meng was awarded a Ph.D.
in psychology under the post-graduate scholarship from the Medical Research
Council (New Zealand). Chee Meng had also been trained in various assessment
methods and intervention techniques for improving cognitive functioning
and behavioural management.

Anita Russell
A practising speech-language pathologist since 1983, Anita has undergone
higher training in the areas of cognition, language and social interaction
in ASD, parent training / facilitation, and Diagnosis and Treatment
in Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Anita has worked with adults, adolescents,
and children with ASD throughout her career in various clinical, school
and community settings. She directed the Anita Russell Communication
Therapy Centre from 1996 to 2002. Her primary professional scope in
ARC(S) has been the development of new clinical education programmes
and initiatives for pre-school and primary age students.

Mariam Aljunied
Mariam
received her training as an Educational Psychologist (EP) in London
in 1994. Since then, Mariam has been a practicing EP with the Ministry
of Education (MOE) in Singapore and subsequently, as Assistant Director
MOE's Psychological Assessment and Research Branch. She has conducted
many training workshops on autism, as well as other aspects of learning
difficulties, for teachers and parents of children in mainstream and
special schools. Mariam is currently completing her PhD in psychology
at the University College London (UCL). Her current research pursuit
at UCL focuses on the assessment of special educational needs for children
with autism, and she has contributed to several publications, both locally
and overseas.

Mr Greg Wills
A practicing Occupational Therapist since 1976, Greg has worked with
various children & adults with learning, physical & intellectual disabilities
in both education, rehabilitation & hospital settings. Greg is also
co-author of "Learning Through the Senses", a widely used resource for
classroom teachers to understand the impact of sensory processing in
a child's learning & behaviour in the classroom. Currently, Greg is
working on a project in the area of intervention strategies to overcome
children's difficulties in learning to write.

Toshihiro Ogimura
Trained in the philosophy of Daily Life Therapy at Musashino Higashi
Gakuen School in Tokyo, Japan, Mr. Toshihiro Ogimura has been a part
of the Boston Higashi School since 1993. He started as a Residential
Instructor in the High School Division, working directly with students
with autism, implementing and teaching the tenets of Daily Life Therapy
. Now, nearly thirteen years later, he holds the position of Residential
Director, where he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Residential
Program, recruits new staff, and creates and implements new policies
and training procedures for nearly 100 staff members. Mr. Ogimura has
also presented locally on "Enhancing the Quality of Life Through a Residential
Program."

Jacqueline Roberts
A
trained Speech Pathologist since 1981, Jacqueline's doctorate dissertation
was on a comparison of the development of language skills in young children
with autism and young children with developmental language disability.
With a strong background in autism, Jacqueline is also an Honorary Teaching
Associate in the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Sydney and
Honorary Associate in the Department of Linguistics, Macquarie University.

Dr Chris Kilham
A graduate
in Psychology, Christine's PhD is related to disability issues. In addition
to being an experienced researcher, Chris has extensive experience as
a 'professional in the field' in several disability services in New
South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and overseas. Chris has a
special interest in communication, memory, hearing impairment as well
as early intervention and autism spectrum disorder.

Trevor Clark
Trevor
is a special educator with a comprehensive knowledge of educational
programs and service provision for students with autism as a result
of over 17 years in the field in New Zealand, England and Australia.
His experience at Aspect comprises of Teacher, School Principal & Director
of Education & Research. He completed his doctorate in autism in 2001
at University of NSW, which involve a curriculum designed to make functional
use of savant and splinter skills in children with autism. Currently
Trevor manages 6 schools including 46 satellite classes (427 students)
as well as the research program for Autism Spectrum Australia.

Kevin Smith
Born in England, Kevin was diagnosed as dyslexic at the age of five.
He completed his mainstream education where he received specialist support.
Kevin was the first dyslexic student at Middlesex University to be examined
orally for his examinations because of his dyslexia. His first degree
was in law/history and was trained in further education on working with
special needs students. He received additional training to work with
dyslexic children & adults, and went on to instruct teachers & teaching
assistants in this field of special education. Kevin is in the midst
of completing his Masters Degree in Dyslexic Studies.

Jane Cotter
Jane has worked as a Special Educator with School Outreach Service,
and as a teacher of students with autism and Asperger's Disorder in
Aspect's base-school and satellite-class system. Jane has also worked
as a teacher in the State primary-school system. Her special interests
include issues relating to the social-emotional well-being of students
with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the facilitation of social communication
programs for children and adults. Jane currently manages Aspect's School
Outreach Service which supports children in mainstream school.
