1. Child readiness
a) Cognitive ability.
b) Readiness for learning in a group and for School routines.
c) Language and Communication - level of comprehension and communication.
d) Academic skills - English, Math, Second Language, Level of support
needed in these subjects.
e) Classroom Behaviour - attention to class teaching, engagement
in independent work,
coping with transitions.
f) Social skills - play, assertiveness, seek out or avoid interaction.
g) Self help - independence in personal domain (e.g. toileting,
dressing), canteen skills (e.g. queuing, buying, feeding).
h) Physical, Medical and Sensory Issues.
2. Receiving School readiness
a) Staff - attitudes, knowledge & understanding, openness to collaboration.
b) Physical environment - location, distractions.
c) Siblings - willingness to be part of the ASD child's learning
environment.
3. Family readiness
a) Expectations of the family - academic performance, social interaction.
b) Support network - participation of family members.
4. Professional Support readiness
a) Collaboration amongst professionals, school and family.
b) Academic assistance -tutorial, monitor overall performance.
